Resurgence

Curated by Kulsoma Khatun ● hARTslane Gallery ● 9th July - 22nd July 2026

Debut Solo Exhibition

This debut solo exhibition is the self-curated creation of Kulsoma and acts as a continuation of her work for the Southwark Park Galleries exhibition (‘Threshold’ , 2026), which also serves as the title for this exhibition: ‘Resurgence’. A full collection of small paintings and digital projections serve to speak on topics of climate justice and hidden spaces in london’s outer orbital pathway which contains one of the worlds largest amounts of green spaces in a capital city.

This exhibition engages with Climate Justice through the lens of Donna Hathaway’s “More Than Human” Framework. The work interrogates treatment of green spaces in cities and challenges dominant narratives around the concept of concrete jungles.

A combination of her typical practice, painting, with a new medium, projection mapping, the project seeks to explore these themes through multiple visual methods. The small ovals serve as little windows overlooking the wild edges of London while the projections act as a way to step into the artwork. The works operate both individually and collectively forming a discursive field in which man and nature interact.

The curatorial strategy foregrounds visual synchronicity with physical interaction, combining a possible singular reading with critical engagement and positions the viewer within the works themself. Instead, it invites critical engagement and positions the viewer within the dynamics of the work.

In doing so, the exhibition contributes to ongoing debates surrounding climate justice, offering a nuanced and materially grounded perspective.

The collection is a series of 20 small oval paintings on OSB panels which are sourced from offcuts from previous projects and will be hung in order of experience through which Kulsoma experienced the London LOOP hiking journey. These spread across the space illuminated by a projector in the corner with a looping animation of schools of fish moving through the space acting as a reference to her previous projects. The semi-immersive experience serves to make the viewer almost swim through the space.
