When an Idea gets scrapped…
Summary of task : A Remembrance Day social post had to be scrapped as I was focusing on First World War Propaganda and shaping this post as a side post for the upcoming blog post. The work was focused on war posters and the more graphic design type submissions the kids had put into the competition.
Why The Project Got Scrapped and Redone
The focus on the propaganda was not a good outlook for Remembrance Day as the focus would take away from the realistic presentation of the war. The new requirements were to focus on the different effects that war has had on different groups like families vs general society. The
There were also major quality issues like the pattern background which was very not carousel-y in the previous post which mean the actual graphic elements had to be redone by me as I designed it based on the motifs for the competition this year.
Immediate Steps to Take
Considering the requirements of this insta post I also have to rewrite the blog post so it aligns with the requirements for the restrictions. Since only the introduction and conclusion go in depth to the concept of propaganda, I just have to rephrase that bit, but all in all most of the hard work is focused around the social media uploads.
Conclusion
I need the personal encouragement to see redos as growth opportunities for stronger project management skills. I’m still using the piece on propaganda that will be posted at a further date as an exercise on how to make posters but still it stings to have that time feel like its been wasted.
I’m learning their language here though as NSI have a specific head voice they’re using when communicating with donors and children and as I’m creating more and more of these blog and social posts I’m able to quickly get the hang of what they’re expecting each output to sound like.
